Handstand with weight shifting
Advanced10 repsNo jumping
How to do it
- Get into a handstand position with your hands on the floor or on mini parallettes, shoulder width apart.
- Keep your elbows locked, shoulders elevated, and body aligned, with a slight posterior pelvic tilt and your gaze between your hands.
- From that position, slowly and controllably shift your weight toward one hand, increasing its load while the other hand unloads part of the support.
- Alternate shifting the weight from side to side without losing body alignment, pushing hard through the floor and correcting with your fingers to maintain balance.
- After each shift, return to the center before switching to the other side or lowering the position.
- Avoid collapsing the shoulder that bears the load, rotating the hips, or speeding up the weight shift so the work remains stable and transferable to the one arm handstand.
